The Story
Damal Hotel derives its name from the Somali word for acacia tree. In traditional Somali poetry and oral story-telling, the acacia tree is often described as the ideal shade for pastoralists on the move.

Decent place in Hargeisa
Damal is probably the only decent place in Hargeisa. It is very central located and convenient if you have business in the area. The rooms are clean howver I recommend that you bring your own sleepers, they provide some old plastic ones, you won’t liked it. Trust me on this. Please ask for a room with windows facing the outside as the rooms without windows can be claustrophobic.

I just stayed at Damal Hotel in Hargeiesa for 4 nights. It was the best hospitality I have received in Africa on this 2 months trip. The staff is VERY kind and always offering a hand to help. The rooms are cozy, and the location is right in the middle of the town with street markets all around you. The rooftop offers some of the best views of Hargeisa.
